Garlic Cheddar Biscuits

 
These biscuits are similar to the ones served at Red Lobster.
 
Ingredients:
  • 2 cups All-Purpose flour
  • 4 Teaspoons Baking Powder
  • 3 Teaspoons Garlic Powder (divided)
  • 1/2 Teaspoon Baking Soda
  • 1 Teaspoon Chicken Bouillon Granules (divided)
  • 1/2 Cup Butter flavored Shortening
  • 3/4 Cup Shredded Cheddar Cheese
  • 1 Cup Buttermilk (substitution: 1 Cup regular milk and add 1 Tablespoon Lemon Juice to it)
  • 3 Tablespoons Butter or Margarine, melted

Directions:

  1. Preheat oven to 450 degrees
  2. In a bowl, combine Flour, Baking Powder, 2 Teaspoons Garlic Powder, Baking Soda and 1/2 Teaspoon Bouillon
  3. Cut in Shortening until mixture resembles coarse crumbs
  4. Add Cheese and stir in Buttermilk just until mix is moistened
  5. Drop by heaping Tablespoonfuls onto a greased baking sheet
  6. Bake at 450 degrees for 10 minutes
  7. Combine the Butter with the remaining Garlic Powder and Bouillon and brush over Biscuits
  8. Bake 4 minutes longer or until golden brown
