John's Award Winning Chili *

This is easy to make and tastes great reheated! I usually eat half (with help) and freeze the rest for later.

Ingredients:
  • 2 Pounds Hamburger (the leaner, the better!)
  • 1 Small Onion - Diced (You can substitute 1-2 Tablespoons of  Minced Onion if in a hurry)
  • 1 Can Chili Beans in sauce (I use "Chili Magic" Brand - Texas Style)
  • 1 Quart Tomato Juice
  • 2 Teaspoons Chili Powder
  • 1 Teaspoon Ground Cayenne (Red) Pepper
  • (Add any additional Peppers or Hot Sauce to taste)

Directions:

  1. Brown Hamburger & Onion in Large Pot (If you used VERY LEAN Meat, you shouldn't have to drain anything!)
  2. Add ALL other ingredients into the pot (Told you it was easy!)
  3. Bring to a boil
  4. Reduce heat and simmer for 2-4 hours, stirring occasionally

The length you cook it will determine how thick it will come out. If you like it soupy, you may only need to cook for 1 hour. This recipe works very well in a crock pot as well!

* My Chili recipe actually WON 1st Place in the "Chili Cook Off" at our local library a few years back!!! (It's THAT good!!!)
